Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. seeks enthusiastic instructors for its after-school chess program in Darien, CT. You will teach 10–15 elementary students using our structured curriculum, creating a fun, safe learning environment.

Compensation ranges from $50 to $75 per class, with a typical class of ~1.5 hours. You can teach 1–5 classes weekly, with mileage reimbursement for travel between local schools.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching or similar).
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating engaging, friendly sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and the ability to explain piece movement and basic tactics to elementary students.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10-15 elementary students.
• Use a structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
