The YMCA of Greater Brandywine in Kennett Square, PA, is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support a safe, engaging childcare program. You will supervise children, greet families, and maintain records while contributing to a strong educational environment.

Responsibilities include promoting development through activities, following DHS procedures, and ensuring program safety. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and education support, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2,500 hours childcare experience preferred.
• 30 college credit hours in early childhood or related field.
• CDA certificate required/maintained.
• DHS file must be current and trainings completed within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean and risk-free environment.
• Engage with children to encourage development and activity participation.
• Maintain attendance and incident records and sign-in/out sheets.
• Greet parents and children daily and report concerns to staff.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do likewise.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred
• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education
• 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care
• 2,500 hours of service
• Current CDA certificate
• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
