YMCA of Greater Brandywine is hiring two Assistant Teachers for Octorara YMCA in Atglen, PA 19310. Shifts are Infant 7 AM–1 PM and Preschool 1 PM–6 PM, on-site with a starting hourly wage of $16–$20. The role supports a safe, educational environment for children and their families within licensing and YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• 2,500 hours of childcare experience preferred.
• 30 college credit hours in early childhood, elementary, or related field, OR 15 college credits and one year of care experience.
• Current CDA certificate preferred.
• Must maintain DHS file and obtain/train certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with children to encourage development and participation.
• Maintain accident, attendance, and sign-in/out records.
• Greet parents and children daily and address concerns with lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do the same.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.

The Childcare Assistant Teacher supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The Octorara YMCA is hiring 2 Assistant Teachers (Infant 7 AM to 1 PM and Preschool 1 PM to 6 PM)

What You'll Do

• Maintain supervision of all students.


• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.


• Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.


• Maintain maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.


• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.


• Use positive guidance to support children.


• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.


• Provide care for the needs of children.


• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsWhat You'll Need

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred


• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education, OR


• 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care


• Current CDA certificate preferred


• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file


• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
