Job summary

Westerndupagechamber is seeking a part-time Before and After School & Youth Programs Coordinator to assist the Recreation Supervisor with planning, administration, and day-to-day operations for the Before & After School and Youth programs. This role combines on-site program support with administrative duties and serves as a resource for staff and participants.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a degree in Recreation, Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children required; experience with elementary-aged children in a recreation, childcare, education, or similar setting preferred.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or staff oversight experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and provide direction to program staff.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and program locations.
• Ability to participate in recreational activities and perform the physical duties, including moving supplies and equipment.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings and Park District training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Recreation Supervisor with planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the Before & After School and Youth Programs.
• Provide on-site leadership and oversight at programs to ensure safe, organized, and high-quality operations.
• Supervise staff and ensure compliance with procedures and park district expectations.
• Assist with staff training and onboarding of Youth Programming staff.
• Communicate with the Recreation Supervisor regarding operations, staffing needs, and incidents.
• Coordinate staff scheduling and coverage for absences and call-offs.
• Maintain participant records, attendance information, and other required documentation.
• Communicate program information and schedules to parents/guardians.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate games, crafts, activities, and events.
