Job summary

The YMCA of Greenville is seeking an After School Counselor II to support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This part-time role focuses on supervising children, facilitating activities, and assisting with eLearning and daily operations under the Site Coordinator.

Hours are from 2:15 pm to 6:00 pm. You will help with lesson plans, safety, and building positive relationships with children, parents and staff, while modeling the Y values and providing a caring, inclusive

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or senior in high school.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Minimum of 2 seasons of experience or years working with youth.
• Minimum of 6 months previous leadership experience.
• Ability to be a good role model and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times.
• Build and maintain order and enthusiasm in a group.
• Supervise and manage groups of school age children during eLearning and homework; lead them in physical activity games, arts and crafts, nutrition lessons, etc.
• Develop and implement lesson plans for program times utilizing risk management and guidelines.
• Maintain equipment and facilities, and use only in an appropriate manner.
• Report program changes to Site Coordinator, Youth Program Director, or Executive Director.
• Attend quarterly YMCA of Greenville Training events.
• Create an environment that promotes belonging, achievement and relationships.
• Adhere to policies and guidelines; manage high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records: Attendance Rosters, Logs, reports.
• Assist in all areas of branch and association operations as requested.
