Job summary

YMCA of Greenville is seeking a Junior Counselor to assist the after school counselor in the health, safety, and welfare of participants, and to demonstrate leadership during programs and activities. You will serve as a positive role model, promoting belonging, achievement, and relationships within the program.

As a part-time team member, you will support counselors in various program areas, attend trainings, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Must have completed YMCA Counselor in Training program.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Must complete all child abuse prevention training.

Responsibilities

• Assist counselors with program participant supervision; never alone with children.
• Assist in various program areas (e.g., Pool, Waterfront).
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain a positive attitude and support staff morale.
• Assist with organizing campers' belongings.
• Assist with teaching activities and leading songs as needed.
• Be flexible to provide support in any area of the day camp.
