Job summary

SAY San Diego is seeking a Youth Leader to support Extended Day programs at San Diego Unified School District sites. The role involves supervising children aged 5-14, aiding with curriculum planning, and facilitating engaging activities before and after school.

You will collaborate with the Site Supervisor to deliver safe, age-appropriate programs, coordinate daily attendance, and ensure a welcoming environment for students and families.

Qualifications

• 6 months experience supervising groups of children ages 5-14.
• Current CPR and First Aid certificate within 30 days of employment.
• Pre-employment TB test and health screening required.
• DOJ/FBI fingerprinting clearance and child abuse index processing required.
• Immunization records (influenza, pertussis and measles) within 30 days of employment.
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (as defined).

Responsibilities

• Actively participate with children in indoor and outdoor activities (fitness, sports, academics, arts).
• Assist Site Supervisor in planning and implementing program curriculum.
• Maintain positive relationships with children, parents, staff and school personnel.
• Develop age-appropriate weekly activity plans per program guidelines.
• Supervise children and manage daily attendance and sign-in/out procedures.
• Provide daily snacks and participate in monthly staff trainings.
• Occasionally substitute at other sites and attend required meetings.
