Job summary

Keene Family YMCA is seeking an Out of School Time Group Assistant to support youth programming in a school-age setting. The role emphasizes safeguarding, engaging activities, and alignment with YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

The position is part-time and seasonal, with required certifications and background checks completed within the first month of employment. Candidate should be at least 16 years old and able to work with children.

Qualifications

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Must pass a background check (if applicable).
  • Prior experience working with school-age children is preferred.
  • Behavior management experience in childcare or school settings preferred.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training within first 30 days of hire.
  • Completed health form within first 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
  • Supervises a group of youth in grades K-5.
  • Implements program activities that are culturally relevant and align with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings, training, and YMCA events.
  • Follows YMCA policies including medical, disciplinary, and child abuse prevention procedures.
  • Builds positive, culturally aware relationships with parents and staff.
  • Fulfills other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
