Qualifications

  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training within first 30 days of hire.
  • Completed health form within first 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
  • Supervises a group of youth in grades K-5.
  • Implements program activities that are culturally relevant and align with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings, training, and YMCA events.
  • Follows YMCA policies including medical, disciplinary, and child abuse prevention procedures.
  • Builds positive, culturally aware relationships with parents and staff.
  • Fulfills other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.

Position Summary

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact. Provides direct supervision to a group of children in a school‑age setting, ensuring positive engagement in a safe, nurturing environment and offering a high‑quality experience focused on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Pay range: $12.57–$15.71–$18.85 hourly

Essential Functions
  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests, exemplifying Y’s commitment to the four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and responding to all members and community inquiries promptly.
  • Supervises a group of youth grades K‑5.
  • Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally proper, and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings, training, and unique events (family nights or YMCA events).
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Builds and supports positive, culturally aware relationships with parents, youth participants, and other staff, modeling relationship‑building skills in all interactions.
  • Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
