Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Direct Care Worker for the after-school program to support children and adolescents with physical and developmental disabilities. You will help implement the Individual Plan of Care and provide instructional support using the family-determined communication methods.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, coursework in childcare or related fields, and 100 hours of experience with autism or cognitive delays along with one

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Coursework in childcare, education, allied health, or human services preferred.
• Minimum 100 hours of experience with students on the autism spectrum or cognitive delays.
• At least one year of independent instructional experience in home and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support using family/determined communication methods.
• Plans comprehensive lessons targeting hygiene, self-help, social skills, and community safety.
• Organizes community outings to broaden cultural and educational experiences.
• Implements Individual Plan/TP/IP through creative activities aligned to goals.
• Documents progress toward goals through notes and portfolios.
• Reports incidents and participates in investigations as required.
• Participates in team meetings and trainings; supports quality and compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
