Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Children Support Specialist for our after-school program serving children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. You will support achievement of each child’s care plan and collaborate with families and schools to promote independence and community involvement.

The role emphasizes instructional support, planning engaging activities, progress documentation, and adherence to the individual plans.

Qualifications

• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
• Experience with children with developmental disabilities or special needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support for communication and independence.
• Plan lessons that leverage the student’s learning mode for home and community skills.
• Organize community outings to broaden cultural and educational experiences.
• Implement Individual Plan/ Treatment Plan through engaging activities.
• Document progress through notes and portfolios.
• Attend team meetings and trainings as required.
• Transport children to supervised outings in agency vehicles.
