Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Children Support Specialist to assist children and adolescents with developmental disabilities in an after-school program. You will support the child’s Individualized Plan of Care and work closely with families and school teams.

The role emphasizes direct support, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, with a schedule of 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday, part-time.

Formación

• Ability to present information in both written and oral form.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsabilidades

• Provides instructional support in developing independent communication (e.g., PCS, voice box, sign language).
• Plans comprehensive lessons to teach skills for independence at home and in the community.
• Organizes community outings to provide cultural, educational, social and recreational experiences.
• Implements Individual Plan/Treatment Plan through engaging activities aligned to goals.
• Documents progress towards the TP/IP goals through daily/quarterly notes and portfolios.
• Documents events related to the student’s behavior management plan where appropriate.
• Informs supervisor of schedule changes and absences.
• Participates in team meetings and monitors services for quality and satisfaction.
• Completes required training including external professional development.
• Reports incidents per DDSS policy and participates in investigations and corrective actions.
• Transports children to supervised outings in Agency vehicles.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience with autism spectrum / cognitive delays

One year experience as instructor
