Job summary

YMCA is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant in Cary, NC to support after-school and enrichment programs. You will assist with daily activities, help implement instructional plans, and promote a safe, inclusive environment for children.

You will work 3:30pm - 6:30pm under supervision of the Program Director, building positive relationships with families and staff while aligning with YMCA goals of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Experience with children in academic or enrichment settings preferred.
• Strong group management, activity leadership, planning, and organization.
• Ability to motivate and engage children, parents, and staff.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support/First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Epi-Pen certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities and instructional plans.
• Maintain student safety and well-being in a safe, nurturing environment.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Support outreach and enrichment programs per YMCA goals.
• Communicate progress and concerns with Site Director and Teachers.
• Help collect student progress data and maintain records.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and field trips.
