Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support academic and enrichment programs for children at Rashkis Elementary School and New Hope Elementary School in Chapel Hill, NC. Under supervision of the Program Director, you will assist with daily activities, help ensure safety and foster inclusive, engaging learning experiences.

You will work Monday to Friday, part-time and non-exempt, supporting instructional plans and maintaining positive relationships with children, families, and staff while

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to motivate and engage children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, communicate, and promote the YMCA’s mission and goals.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Promote inclusion and engagement for diverse populations.
• Interact with children daily, ensuring safety and a nurturing environment.
• Support academic and enrichment activities and assist with instructional plans.
• Ensure safety and well-being of all children according to YMCA policies.
• Communicate with Site Director/Teacher about activities and progress.
• Maintain program records and assist in collecting student progress data.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, field trips, and bus supervision.
• Remain prepared and engaged in all aspects of program delivery.
