Job summary

City of Seattle is seeking two part-time Upward Bound Tutors (Youth Supervisor) to mentor and tutor 9th–12th grade students at Garfield and Rainier Beach High Schools through the academic year. Position may extend into summer 2027 with part-time tutoring opportunities.

Ideal candidates can tutor Math (Algebra 2–Calculus), Sciences, and/or English reading and writing. Role involves working with Academic Youth Counselors, Program Manager, and Coordinator; requires a passion for serving diverse

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent
• Two years of college coursework may substitute for degree

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group tutoring for 9th–12th graders in Math (Algebra 2–Calculus), Science (biology, chemistry, physics), and English (ELA/writing)
• Develop and conduct workshops on leadership, college/career readiness, goal setting, and life skills
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring and workshop activities and student progress
