Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a Before/After-School Certified tutor to design and deliver academic, social, physical, and skill development for students in designated grades and subjects, preparing them to be successful citizens and workers.

The role includes creating tutoring plans, working with small groups and individuals, reinforcing classroom instruction, collecting data for accountability, and collaborating with teachers to support student progress.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 48 semester hours required.
• Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• One year of experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Generates tutoring plans for each student detailing goals and enrichment activities.
• Develops and assists students with academic exercises and class activities, focusing on small groups and individuals.
• Compiles and organizes materials and classroom for instruction and learning activities.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assists teachers with instruction and daily routines as needed.
• Provides instructional support and reinforcement to students needing tutoring services.
• Uses instructional practices, behavior management, assessment techniques and directed teaching.
• Collects and compiles data for accountability and program development.
• Prepares information for reports and evaluation and communicates with teachers.
