Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking a tutor/teacher assistant to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in designated grades and subjects. You will design tutoring plans, reinforce classroom instruction, and support daily routines under the guidance of a licensed teacher.

You will work with individuals and small groups, prepare instructional materials, track progress, and contribute to reports and program development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Tennessee professional teacher's license required.
• Experience supporting students with diverse needs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Generates tutoring plans detailing goals and enrichment activities; assesses progress.
• Develops and assists students with academic exercises in small groups or individually.
• Prepares and organizes instructional materials and classroom for learning.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assists teacher with daily routines and instructional activities.
• Provides tutoring support for students identified as needing help.
• Uses effective instructions, behavior management, and assessment techniques.
• Collects data for accountability and program development.
• Compiles information for reports and evaluation.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with the teacher.
