Job summary

Shelby County Schools seeks a Before/After-School Certified tutor to deliver academic, social, physical, and skill development for students in designated grades. The role emphasizes individualized and small-group instruction and progress documentation for accountability.

The position requires an Associate's Degree or 48 semester hours, CPR and First Aid certification, and experience with children. Certification/preferred credentials may be required by MSCS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree equivalency not required; Associate's Degree or 48 college hours recognized.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.
• ParaPro Assessment Test passing score required or demonstrated alternative.
• Minimum one year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generates tutoring plans for each student detailing goals and enrichment activities.
• Develops academic exercises and assists students with class activities, focusing on small groups or individuals as needed.
• Prepares materials and classroom setup for instruction and learning activities.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assists teacher with instruction and daily routines, providing tutoring support as needed.
• Collects data for accountability and program development and completes required reports.
