Job summary

East Bay Community Action Program is seeking a caring, dependable Teacher Assistant to support Out-of-School Time programs in Newport. You will help create a safe, welcoming environment where students learn, grow, and engage beyond the traditional school day.

You will collaborate with Site Coordinators, Lead Teachers, and community partners to support daily operations, attendance, snacks, and activities while promoting a positive learning climate and student well-being.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree and/or Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.
• Experience with school-age children in educational, childcare, recreation, youth development, or after-school settings desirable.

Responsibilities

• Welcome students and help create a positive start to each program session.
• Assist with attendance, snack distribution, and student dismissal procedures.
• Provide active supervision to ensure student safety and well-being.
• Support positive behavior management aligned with school expectations and program guidelines.
• Work with Lead Teachers and staff to support daily program goals and activities.
