Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay in Pleasant Hill, CA is seeking energetic individuals for the Before and After School program as a Teachers Aide. This part-time role supports K-5 students with structured activities, healthy snacks, and positive reinforcement.

Responsibilities include assisting with curriculum, maintaining safety, communicating with families, and helping foster STEM-focused exploration. Requires high school diploma and willingness to enroll in ECE units; CPR/First Aid certificates

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Enroll in Early Childhood Education courses until 12 units completed with a grade of C or better.
• One year of Early Childhood classroom experience preferred.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificates (15 hours of health and safety training) or completion within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning & implementing curriculum within established guidelines and prepare supplies for activities.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Help achieve program goals by promoting growth and exploration.
• Care for the health and well-being of children; provide first aid when necessary and report incidents.
• Provide consistent discipline reinforcing positive behaviors at age-appropriate levels.
• Report notable behavior to supervisor per policies.
• Communicate with families, staff, and others about program standards and child development.
• Maintain required program records.
• Attend program activities, trainings, staff meetings, and events.
• Keep the center clean and presentable and ensure licensing standards are met.
• Other duties as assigned.
