Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking energetic Assistant Teachers for the Y-Kids Program. This role supports daily operations, facilitates care, and helps deliver a STEM-focused curriculum.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, pursue ECE units, and hold Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification with health clearance. Responsibilities include assisting in curriculum planning, promoting child development, maintaining records, and communicating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Enrol in at least 3 ECE units per semester until 12 units completed with a C or better.
• Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification or training completed within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance is required.
• Health screening and TB clearance are required pre-employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing curriculum within guidelines.
• Support daily site operations and provide responsive care to children and families.
• Promote positive behaviors and healthy development in children.
• Maintain required program records and attend trainings and meetings.
• Ensure licensing standards are met and maintain a clean, safe center environment.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and community partners regarding child development.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

3 units Early Childhood Education per semester

Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification

LiveScan fingerprint clearance

TB clearance

1 year ECE classroom experience preferred

Ability to relate to diverse groups

18+ years of age
