Job summary

City of Suffolk is seeking a Recreation Leader to assist in implementing recreation programs and supervise children in day care before/after school. Work locations Creekside and Oakland Recreation Centers; split shifts from early morning to late afternoon.

Requires high school diploma and 1–2 years in customer service; CPR & First Aid within six months; valid driver’s license. Duties include registering participants, handling fees, setting up activities, leading crafts, coordinating volunteers,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1–2 years in customer service.
• CPR & First Aid certification within six months of employment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate program activities.
• Strong communication and clerical/data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the public and register participants, issue and check membership cards, receive fees, enforce rules of the facility.
• Set up and take down equipment; manage inventory and issue athletic equipment.
• Lead crafts, games and activities for children; participate in programs, classes, and events.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining the facility; perform routine administrative tasks for the department.
• Provide input regarding programs, participants, and volunteers; communicate with supervisors.
• Assist with planning for special events; fly ers, applications, contacting, purchasing items.
• May assist with senior trips and events.
• May work with senior citizens and create events.
