Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Des Moines is seeking a program director to directly manage a signature After School site and Out-of-School time programming, integrating the program into the school's culture and promoting a sense of belonging for children.

The role emphasizes advocacy, collaboration, and partnership between school and the YMCA, with responsibilities including budget oversight, staffing, and collaboration with school personnel.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Degree in related field, or 5+ years of work related experience.
• 1–2 years related program development and management in a leadership role.
• Proficient in Google Workspace or Microsoft Windows environments.
• Be approved by State of Iowa Child Care Licensing requirements.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification prior to starting.
• Child Abuse Prevention Training prior to starting and maintained annually.
• Additional training to be completed within first 30 days and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned program areas and activities, ensuring compliance with YMCA standards and best practices.
• Evaluate and review all aspects of programs to ensure quality and safety.
• Deliver programming at least 20 hours per week.
• Develop and distribute materials to market programs and ensure communications meet standards.
• Prepare and monitor budget and financial information for the program.
• Monitor revenue and expenses to stay within budget.
• Determine staffing needs and assign personnel accordingly.
• Build and train a caring staff team focused on community needs.
• Develop collaborative relationships with school personnel.
• Represent the YMCA internally and externally.
