Job summary

After School All-Stars LA is seeking an After School Program Leader (Part-Time) to support academic, cultural and recreational enrichment for SFV youth in a school setting.

You will work under the Program Coordinator to provide a safe, engaging environment, oversee activities, maintain a 20:1 ratio, and communicate with families and school staff. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in grades K-12 in recreational, educational and/or community youth outreach setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after-school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to emergencies.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have HS diploma or GED and have passed ASAS-LA exam, or have an Associate degree or two years of higher education.
• Criminal record clearance by fingerprinting prior to working with youth.
• Tuberculosis Test clearance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, guardians and school staff.
• Maintain communication with supervisor and provide attendance data and program progress.
• Prepare supplies and create a creative learning environment; monitor supply needs.
• Facilitate age-appropriate learning experiences.
• Actively supervise students to ensure a safe environment.
• Maintain professional appearance and communicate with stakeholders.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Supervise field trips and events as needed.
• Distribute and track supper/snack per school protocols.
• Maintain program materials/equipment and report hazards.
• Understand safety standards for program areas.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends; travel for meetings as needed.
• Support team to run quality programs; perform other duties as assigned.
