Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a mission-driven After School Program Director to oversee daily operations, staff, and program quality. You will ensure adherence to contract requirements while fostering a safe, engaging, and collaborative environment for students and staff in the New York City area.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and several years of experience in urban youth work, with supervisory responsibilities and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Education, Psychology or Social Work.
• Minimum 3 years in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least 1 year supervisory experience.
• Minimum 1 year working with youth/adolescents in NYC.
• Knowledge of NYC/state education requirements in urban settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee program staff and operations to meet contract requirements.
• Conduct staff evaluations and development plans with Program Manager/HR.
• Lead weekly/monthly staff meetings and coordinate program activities.
• Communicate progress with supervisor and prepare internal/external reports.
• Recruit participants through community outreach and present program details.
• Provide supervision and feedback to staff and indirect reports.
• Collaborate on professional development workshops with relevant departments.
• Coordinate with school leadership to align program with student achievement goals.
• Ensure program compliance: registration, staff docs, ratios, attendance, IDs, permits.
