Job summary

New York Edge in Brooklyn, NY seeks an experienced After School Program Director to lead daily operations, ensure contract compliance, and drive program quality for students and staff. You will supervise staff, plan activities, and coordinate with schools and partners to deliver engaging sports, arts, and STEM activities in a safe, supportive environment.

A Bachelor's degree (education, psychology, or social work preferred) and at least three years in urban education or youth development with

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work.
Minimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth & adolescents in New York City.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow with a positive demeanor.
Strong understanding of NYC and NYS education requirements in urban settings.

Responsibilities

Oversees program staff, operations, services, and implements programs to meet established timelines and compliance.
Conducts staff performance evaluations and development plans.
Provides weekly and monthly team meetings to solicit feedback and discuss classroom management and lesson planning.
Communicates regularly with supervisor on program updates and needs.
Coordinates outreach to the community and actively recruits participants.
Prepares documents and reports (attendance, daily activities, program content) for reporting.
Provides weekly supervision to staff with feedback and goal setting.
Collaborates with Program Manager and other departments to develop professional development workshops.
Collaborates with Principal and Asst Principals to align program delivery with student achievement.
