Job summary

Bay Area Community Resources, Inc is seeking an EXL TK/K Instructor to deliver engaging, play-based learning for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten in after-school and enrichment programs in San Rafael. The role focuses on safe, nurturing environments that support social-emotional growth and early literacy.

You will partner with families, school staff, and the BACR team to meet diverse developmental needs, maintain routines, and foster a love of learning throughout the academic year.

Qualifications

  • English communication and basic program documentation skills.

Job Description:Reports To: Program CoordinatorThe EXL TK/K Instructor provides engaging, expanded learning experiences for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students in BACR after-school and enrichment programs. The instructor creates a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports social-emotional growth, early learning, independence, and a love of learning. Through play-based and hands-on learning experiences, the instructor builds positive relationships with students, families, and school staff while supporting the unique developmental needs of children a qualifying Instructional Aide examination.Experience working with young children in educational, childcare, enrichment, preschool, TK, kindergarten, or community-based settings.Ability to build positive relationships with children and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Ability to actively supervise and engage groups of young children while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.Basic proficiency with email, Google Workspace, and required program documentation systems.Successful completion of criminal background clearance, TB clearance, Mandated Reporter certification, and all required trainingsAbility to work during after-school hours and commit through the academic school year (hire date through mid-June)Ability to communicate effectively in English with students and familiesBasic English reading proficiency to support students' academic development, enrichment offerings, and school day alignmentPreferred QualificationsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.Experience with play-based learning and early childhood, preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, kindergarten, expanded learning, or childcare programs.Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 4–6.Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand, sit, kneel, bend, and move throughout the program space for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.Ability to actively supervise and accompany students during indoor and outdoor activities.Ability to maintain active supervision and respond appropriately to the physical and safety needs of
