Job summary

Johnstown YMCA in Johnstown, CO is seeking a part-time School Age Program Leader to guide activities, supervise participants and ensure safety in accordance with YMCA policies. The role emphasizes positive guidance, timely shifts, and collaboration with staff and volunteers.

The role requires 18+ with Colorado program leadership qualifications and 480 hours of relevant experience, plus CPR/First Aid and related trainings within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Meets Program Leader qualifications as stated by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care division.
• 480 verifiable hours of experience working with 4 or more children ages 5-18.
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Experience in K-5th grade program development – preferably in a licensed program
• Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and relate to children.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

Responsibilities

• Independently leads and supervises children in small and large group activities.
• Adheres to program standards including safety, licensing, and health department standards.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community members.
• Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records.
• Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.
• Provides leadership and support to Program Aides and Volunteers.
• Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures and expectations.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings (completes all Traininghome requirements).
