Job summary

After-School All-Stars Los Angeles is seeking a part-time Program Leader to support the daily after-school program in Los Angeles, with core hours from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The role emphasizes providing a safe, educational and recreational environment for K-12 students.

You will lead activities, supervise students, and maintain a 20:1 ratio while coordinating with staff and guardians. Evening and weekend availability is required, with occasional field-site travel.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in K-12 in recreational, educational and/or community youth outreach setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to critical incidents.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have HS diploma or GED and have passed ASAS-LA exam or have college credits.
• Must clear Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan.
• Physical ability to lead and participate in activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementation of the after-school program under the Program Coordinator.
• Maintain a 20:1 ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop positive relationships with youth, guardians and school staff.
• Provide attendance tracking data and program progress to supervisor.
• Prepare supplies and materials and monitor supply needs.
• Use age-appropriate methods to facilitate engaging learning experiences.
• Actively supervise students during program activities.
• Maintain professional attitude and appearance with stakeholders.
• Communicate with school staff and guardians about activities and events.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Supervise students at field trips and events.
• Distribute and track supper/snack per school protocols.
• Maintain program spaces and report hazards.
• Maintain all program materials/equipment.
• Ensure safety Standards within program areas.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends; travel to off-site meetings.
