Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Program Leader, Beyond the Bell, for Pomelo Community Charter in Canoga Park, CA. This seasonal, part-time role supports students in TK–6th grade after school with enrichment clubs, homework help, and hands-on activities.

You'll foster a safe, engaging environment, partner with families and staff, and help deliver programming aligned with youth development goals during the school year, with opportunities in breaks.

Qualifications

• Experience working with school age children in a group setting.
• Experience leading enrichment activities, recreation, academics, sports, arts, or other skill-based programs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse families and children.
• Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Create a fun, safe, and engaging environment where children feel welcomed and encouraged to learn and grow.
• Lead hands-on enrichment activities, homework support, recreation, and skill-based clubs.
• Build meaningful relationships with students, families, school staff, and team members.
• Encourage teamwork and positive behavior to help every child feel they belong.
• Help ensure the program operates safely and effectively in line with YMCA youth development goals.
