Job Description
We are seeking Program Instructors to support after‑school programs focused on youth development at three school sites:

- Pay rate: $23 per hour (DOE)
- Hours negotiated at hiring, typically 20–26 hours per week
- Up to 16 paid holidays per year

Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher, 48 college units, or pass the Instructional Aide exam
- Pass criminal background check and TB test clearance
- Available to work every day during after‑school hours and commit to the full academic school year (hire date through mid‑June)
- Previous experience working with children and ability to lead and supervise up to 22 students
- Open, professional communication and confidentiality at all times
- Basic computer skills (Word, Email, Workvivo, Workday, Google Drive, etc.)
- Complete all mandated training (Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, SEL PQA, etc.)
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods

- Promote a safe and supportive environment, addressing intimidation and isolation promptly and culturally responsively
- Maintain a positive emotional climate and sense of community through feedback, encouragement, and opportunities for student voice
- Implement classroom management techniques and promote positive behavior and choices
- Encourage youth engagement by listening attentively and incorporating student input
- Prepare and deliver lessons, manage time effectively, and facilitate activities with fidelity
- Use data‑driven continuous quality improvement to inform instruction and literacy activities
- Promote youth skill development, positive peer interactions, and collaborative learning
- Apply equity practices, cultural diversity, accessibility, and trauma‑informed approaches
- Encourage youth voice and leadership, providing opportunities for responsibility and critical thinking
Additional Job Duties
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Facilitate classrooms of 10–20 students, creating engaging activities and lesson plans
- Provide homework and academic support
- Plan and facilitate academic, enrichment, and physical skills activities based on student skill level and state standards
- Maintain accurate attendance records and meet deadlines
- Report incidents promptly to supervisor
- Participate in staff and agency training, meetings, program events, and activities
- Engage in the Continuous Quality Improvement process as outlined in the EXL Handbook
- Complete additional duties assigned by the Program Coordinator
