Job summary

Ottawa YMCA is seeking an After School Program Staff member to supervise, engage, and support youth participants in our after-school program. This part-time role emphasizes safety, positive role modeling, and collaboration with families and school staff.

Responsibilities include ensuring a safe site, assisting with before/after school activities, and participating in YMCA training to enhance skills. CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older to meet program safety and operational requirements.
• Relate to children, members and staff in a positive manner.
• Possess clear communication skills with children, adults, co-workers and supervisors.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire.
• Six months or more previous experience with child care (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health and safety of each participant and maintain a safe and clean program site.
• Participate in supervising before/after school activities with school-aged children.
• Be a positive influence and role model in the lives of participants.
• Accept the goals and objectives of the YMCA and work to achieve them.
• Take part in all training activities to develop proficiencies required for performing job responsibilities.
• Maintain positive relationships, open communication with parents, YMCA personnel, participants, administration and volunteers.
• Assume any other duties as assigned by the Youth and Family Director and YMCA administrators.
