Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a part-time program assistant to support after-school activities and supervise children. You will assist with attendance, safety, and daily operations in a daycare-like setting within a YMCA program.

The role requires a High School Diploma (college credits preferred), strong interpersonal skills, and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications. You will help with snacks, homework, behavior management, and event planning while following licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required, college credits/degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels including staff, parents and school staff.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions that align with the YMCA's mission.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and planning abilities.
• 1 year supervisory experience.
• 1–3 years working with children in before/after school programs.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with attendance of all students and staff; submit rosters and reports as needed.
• Ensure safety of children by following supervision standards and licensing.
• Sign-in/out correctly with authorized contacts and maintain records.
• Follow First-Aid procedures and document incidents.
• Lead activities, snack help, homework support, and supervision.
• Promote YMCA programs and events to families; assist with events.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary environment and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain health and hygiene; perform regular diaper changes as needed.
• Adhere to licensing guidelines and MetroY policies; participate in drills.
• Attend YMCA trainings; complete 20 hours of professional development annually.
