Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a part-time seasonal coach to lead middle school athletes in the fundamentals, strategy, and physical training for the 2026-27 season. The position runs from November 2026 to March 2027, with a pay rate of $17.13 per hour.

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Minimum of two years of experience as an assistant coach.
First Aid Certificate and CPR card are required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

Supervises student athletes to promote learning through athletic participation.
Plans, develops and implements an effective program for the sport, emphasizing safety and conduct.
Organizes after-school practice sessions for 7th-8th grade teams and 6th grade teams, developing athletes' potential.
Coordinates with the athletic director on facility use, budgeting, equipment, and injury handling.
Informs students and parents about eligibility rules and sport-specific policies.
Manages equipment issuance, return, inventory, and safety checks.
Makes written recommendations to improve the program and assist in achieving objectives.
