Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks an assistant coach to lead middle school sports programs, focusing on fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork. The position follows district and WIAA guidelines and requires after-school practice sessions.

Applicants must have a high school diploma, a minimum of two years’ coaching experience, and up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification. The role is seasonal and does not include benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent, and a minimum of two years’ experience as an assistant coach.
• First Aid Certificate and CPR card are required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age (WIAA Regulation) or equivalent experience/training.

Responsibilities

• Supervises student athletes to promote learning through athletic participation.
• Plans and implements sport-specific programs, ensuring safety and fair competition.
• Organizes practices for 6th–8th grade teams after school, developing skills and maintaining records.
