Job summary

River-Crossing-Ymca in Annandale, NJ is seeking an assistant teacher for part-time afternoon hours. The role focuses on engaging children, building community connections, and creating a fun learning atmosphere.

You will work with a caring team to support youth development in a non-profit setting. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of childcare experience, a high school diploma, and is pursuing or has pursued studies in childhood education or related fields.

• 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity.
• Passion for working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help kids learn.
• Be patient and kind with our parents.
• Cultivate a safe and nurturing environment that supports physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program.
• Adjust curriculum to ensure that all children meet learning objectives.
• Follow state and YMCA guidelines to ensure safety and well-being of the children.

What is needed for this job

• Are 21+ and have 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity
• High school diploma
• Associate/Bachelor degree or college credits from an accredited college or university in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field preferred
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances
