Job summary

Sterling Asset Management Company is seeking a Community Manager to oversee daily operations of an affordable housing community, ensuring regulatory compliance, financial performance and resident satisfaction. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail and hands-on problem solving across leasing, services, staff supervision and vendor coordination.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in affordable property management (LIHTC, HUD or similar), excellent customer service, and proficiency

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in affordable property management (LIHTC, HUD, or similar).
• Strong understanding of leasing processes, rent collection, and compliance documentation.
• Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Proficiency in property management software (Yardi preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Leasing & Compliance Administration: Manage compliance and regulatory screening processes and move-ins, recertifications, and reporting.
• Financial Operations: Handle rent collection, delinquency management, deposits, invoicing, and budgeting reports.
• Facilities Oversight: Direct inspections, maintenance strategy, inventory, and life/safety issue reporting.
• Tenant Relations & Resident Services: Deliver high-quality service, process accommodation requests, and coordinate community events.
• Staff Supervision & Development: Supervise onsite maintenance and office staff, coach and train.
• Risk & Regulatory Compliance: File incident reports, manage injuries, ensure program compliance for affordable housing.
