Job summary

Saab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for our 3rd shift in West Lafayette, IN, to ensure the production system is properly supplied with tooling while driving improvements, managing inventory and compliance.

You will collaborate with tooling engineers and the production team, audit tools, support studies, perform testing, and help install new tooling capital projects, all while aligning with Saab's Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support values.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable work experience required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection / application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations and standards is a plus.
• Competent understanding of GD&T.
• Proficient with computer reporting, including Excel worksheets.
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs and contribute to installation of new tooling capital projects.
• Contribute to a people-first culture aligned with Saab values.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to Aerospace standards.

• Other tasks as assigned.
