Job summary

Saab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician on the 3rd shift in West Lafayette, IN, to ensure tooling readiness, drive tooling improvements, manage inventory, and liaise between tooling engineers and production.

You will audit tools, support studies, test tooling performance, resolve issues, and assist with new tooling capital projects while upholding Saab's core values of Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in STEM or 2+ years relevant work experience.
• 2+ years technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience selecting and applying tooling in manufacturing settings.
• Basic tooling design capabilities and process knowledge.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting experience.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and GD&T understanding.
• Excel reporting proficiency; CAD skills are a plus.
• Proactive, innovative mindset and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools in each assembly area.
• Support tooling studies and tool application.
• Conduct tooling performance testing and deliver analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose tooling solutions and help install new tooling capital projects.
• Contribute to Saab's values of Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.
• Assist assemblers with proper/safe tool use.
• Ensure tooling compliance with aerospace standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
