Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to ensure tooling readiness, drive tooling improvements, manage inventory, and support production teams. Responsibilities include auditing tools, conducting performance testing, and proposing new tooling solutions while aligning with Saab's values of Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.

Ideal candidates have an Associate Degree in a STEM field or 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing, with tooling design

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable work experience.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing are a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design and troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and knowledge of aerospace quality regulations and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain tools within each assembly area.
• Support tooling studies and applications.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions and participate in tooling capital projects.
• Assist assemblers with safe tool use and ensure tooling compliance with aerospace standards.
• Work independently or with the production team as needed.
