Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Mk1 Thermal Mechanical Design Engineer III to empower the MK1 Lunar Lander team with advanced mechanical layouts, detailed drawings, and robust design data across assemblies and components.

The role emphasizes Creo-based design, GD&T compliance, and collaboration with materials, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver spaceflight hardware. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 5+ years of related experience.
• Strong mechanical design skills using Creo.
• Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
• Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
• Experience in designing active thermal hardware (tubing, radiators, coldplates, pump assemblies, etc.) and/or passive thermal hardware (MLI blankets, Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)).
• Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design layouts, create detail parts and assembly drawings/MBDs, and release data sets using CAD and PLM tools.
• Create and review engineering drawings and designs to meet specifications and standards.
• Support engineering teams in mechanical layout and detail design for structural parts and assemblies.
• Apply company techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs.
• Implement standard methodologies to balance cost, schedule and performance.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to select materials, processes and suppliers for aerospace hardware.
