Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, develop and integrate complex actuation systems across aerospace platforms. You will contribute to the full system lifecycle from concept through end-of-life, analyzing requirements and validating hardware-in-the-loop tests.

The role emphasizes control architectures, mathematical modeling and collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams in an agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Background in Electrical Engineering, including exposure to circuit design and motor control systems.
  • Understanding of system and component development lifecycles.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and requirements flow-down processes.
  • Experience supporting root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives.
  • Exposure to the development of motor-driven actuation systems.
  • Knowledge of control architecture implementation within electronic controller applications.
  • Experience with real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) development and testing.
  • Understanding of control theory concepts like system dynamics, frequency response, stability margins, and system interactions.
  • Proficiency with system modeling and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and integrate highly complex systems within Honeywell Aerospace’s Mechanical Systems and Components organization.
  • Create design solutions for actuation systems used across the aerospace industry, including aircraft, missiles and launch vehicles.
  • Contribute to every aspect of the system life cycle, from initial design concepts through product end of life.
  • Analyze and decompose system and component requirements.
  • Integrate actuation systems and develop components.
  • Design mechanical systems and integrate component controllers.
  • Model and analyze electro-mechanical systems and components.
  • Develop control architectures and designs.
  • Develop physics-based models and system designs.
  • Plan and execute root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Conduct mechanical systems validation and verification.
  • Serve as a customer technical interface.
  • Delegate work effectively to team members.
  • Report directly to the Sr. Engineering Program Manager.
