Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking an intern in the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department to tackle structural and thermal analyses under supervision. You will work one-on-one with a senior engineer, perform analyses, and contribute to final documentation.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a STEM degree with familiarity in FEA tools and engineering fundamentals, and you must be able to obtain a security clearance (DoD Secret). This is an onsite role with relocation eligibility.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (STEM).
• Minimum 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co‑op session.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS Workbench, Patran, Nastran, Thermal Desktop).

Responsibilities

• Derive mechanical and thermal loads and environments
• Perform hand calculations for higher order detailed analysis
• Conduct detailed structural or thermal analyses to solve challenging problems
• Perform peer reviews to validate analysis processes and results
• Present results to customers
• Generate detailed, archival technical reports
