Job summary

RTCA is seeking an Aerospace Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead the quality function for a complex CNC precision machining operation on flight-critical programs. This hands-on role drives QMS readiness, customer compliance, and product conformance while partnering with customers and cross-functional teams to protect quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field, OR equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of quality experience in aerospace or precision CNC machining manufacturing, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ability to lead audits.
• Experience with nonconforming material/MRB, root cause analysis, and corrective action (8D, 5-Why, fishbone).
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Working knowledge of inspection methods, AS9102, CMM inspection, and calibration/gage control.
• Proven leadership ability to coach a team and drive improvements to closure.
• Strong written and verbal communication with suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the QMS in compliance with AS9100, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the Quality department, including inspection, CMM, and quality engineering; coach staff and manage staffing and priorities.
• Plan and lead internal audits; support customer, registrar, and regulatory audits; drive corrective actions to closure.
• Lead remediation projects to address legacy QMS gaps, ensuring timely closure of actions.
• Manage nonconforming material and MRB activities with accurate records and scrap/rework reporting.
• Drive RCCA/CAPA and provide timely, high-quality responses to customers.
• Serve as primary quality contact for customers; manage flowdowns, quality portals and contracts.
• Oversee First Article Inspection (AS9102) and in-process/final inspections; prioritize CMM work for on-time delivery.
