Job summary

Mason designs, manufactures, and markets highly engineered products for aerospace and defense. We seek a Quality Engineer to ensure product quality, drive continuous improvement, and lead CAPA across value streams in Chicago.

You will partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and customers to reduce variation, ensure AS9100 compliance, and support audits. Expose opportunities to optimize processes and deliver robust quality metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of Quality Engineering experience in AS9100-regulated aerospace/defense manufacturing.
• Experience leading RCCA activities with 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FTA or similar methods.
• Proficiency with SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA, Gauge R&R, PFMEA, DOE.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily quality engineering support for assigned manufacturing value streams.
• Lead investigations of internal and external nonconformances using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, RCCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
• Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Support MRB activities and disposition of nonconforming material.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve process performance.
• Develop and maintain Process Control Plans, Inspection Plans, and quality documentation.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure manufacturing compliance.
• Perform statistical analysis using SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA, and other quality tools.
• Develop and monitor quality metrics, dashboards, KPIs, and trend analysis.
• Monitor COPQ, scrap, rework, and customer returns; drive improvement initiatives.
