Job summary

Thomas Instrument seeks a Packing and Marking Specialist to ensure precise preservation, packaging, marking, and preparation of aerospace products for shipment in compliance with military and customer requirements.

You will coordinate with Assembly, Quality, Production Control, and Shipping to support timely release and shipment of products, maintaining documentation and accurate system records. The role demands strong organization, attention to detail, and physical packaging tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Two (2) or more years in a fast-paced environment requiring accuracy and process control.
• Aerospace, defense, medical device, manufacturing, shipping, packaging, or other regulated-industry experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete work accurately.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, specifications, procedures, and customer requirements.
• Ability to enter, retrieve, and maintain information in computerized business systems.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively across Production, Quality, Shipping, Purchasing, and Production Control.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality, process compliance, and accurate documentation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification when required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare parts, assemblies, and completed products for shipment per requirements.
• Review work instructions and specs to determine preservation, packaging, and marking needs.
• Perform preservation and packaging activities per procedures.
• Inspect products and packaging materials for condition and compliance prior to shipment.
• Perform preservation inspections and testing as required.
• Select and prepare packaging materials and containers.
• Package and secure products to prevent damage during storage and transport.
• Mark parts with Human-Readable and Machine-Readable information.
• Set up and operate laser etching and electrochemical etching equipment.
• Verify marking accuracy and conformance with requirements.
• Prepare, assemble, move, and position shipping containers and finished products.
• Accurately complete system transactions and maintain records.
• Document discrepancies and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Quality, Production, Shipping, Buyers, and Production Control to resolve issues.
• Participate in daily meetings and provide status updates on packing and marking schedules.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and tools.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when trained.
• Follow safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
