Job summary

Thomas Instrument in Brookshire, Texas, is seeking a skilled Buyer to support production and customer requirements by sourcing raw materials, machined components, and aerospace parts. You will work with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Production, and suppliers to ensure purchased products meet technical, cost, and delivery requirements.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and purchase requirements, soliciting quotes, selecting suppliers, negotiating terms, and managing purchase

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• APICS/ASCM CPIM or similar certification preferred.
• Aerospace/defense purchasing or supply chain experience strongly preferred.
• ERP/MRP-based planning and purchasing experience required for experienced-level candidates.
• Experience with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings and purchase requirements to determine sourcing needs.
• Solicit quotations, identify qualified sources, select suppliers, and negotiate pricing and terms.
• Purchase raw materials, machined components, contract manufacturing, outside processing, and aerospace parts.
• Ensure purchase orders communicate requirements and monitor supplier performance.
• Support inventory optimization and supplier risk management; address shortages and delivery risks.
• Use ERP/MRP to plan, track, and manage purchasing activity and supplier schedules.
