Job summary

CMI Group in Phoenix, AZ seeks an experienced NPI Manufacturing Engineer to transition aerospace parts from design to stable production. You will collaborate with Design Engineering, CNC, Quality, and Supply Chain to develop repeatable, cost-effective processes and complete documentation.

Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO/AS9100 methodologies guide you throughout the lifecycle. You will lead DFMs, develop process plans, and drive first article readiness while supporting continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience with NPI or new programs.
• Hands-on 3D CAD experience required.
• Experience creating process routers, manufacturing drawings, and documentation.
• Familiarity with CNC machining equipment and metal processing.
• Knowledge of AS9102, PFMEA, control plans, and process capability concepts.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications quickly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines under pressure.
• Strong technical writing and collaboration across design, quality, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Own the NPI process from RFQ to first article inspection and production release.
• Review drawings and specs for manufacturability, lead times, tooling, and gaps.
• Develop process routings, cycle-time estimates, tooling needs, and outside processing.
• Create detailed manufacturing process plans and routers for new products.
• Lead DFM reviews with design, CNC, and customers; document changes.
• Design and release workholding fixtures and tooling; manage validation.
• Plan prototype, pilot, and first-article builds; troubleshoot to protect schedule.
• Support FAI per AS9102 with ballooned drawings and submittals with Quality.
• Develop PFMEA and control plans; assist validation and capability studies.
• Create SOPs and hand off to Production; maintain documentation.
• Maintain SOLIDWORKS models, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T.
• Manage engineering changes and risk logs; communicate status to leadership.
