Job summary

Blue Origin is building ground mechanical and GSE systems for rockets at Cape Canaveral, FL. This role designs and develops mechanical ground systems, creates CAD models and technical drawings, and supports testing of prototypes, ensuring performance data is compiled and documented for design changes.

The position involves BOM updates, basic stress analyses, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to advance spaceflight programs.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical/Aerospace from an accredited university.
  • 0-3 years Level 1 Manufacturing Engineer, 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr.
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred but usually not strictly required
  • Proficiency in CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and familiarity with FEA/CFD simulation tools
  • Understanding materials, thermodynamics, kinematics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD models, detailed engineering schematics, and technical drawings for mechanical components.
  • Build and evaluate physical prototypes, conduct tests, and compile performance data.
  • Prepare technical reports, update BOMs, and maintain documentation for design changes.
  • Perform basic stress analyses and tolerance stack-ups.
