Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop ground mechanical systems for our Cape Canaveral launch site. You will create 3D CAD models, perform testing, and document design changes to support reliable GSE for rockets.

Responsibilities include prototype building, testing, data analysis, and producing technical reports while ensuring compliance with GD&T and materials science fundamentals. A BS in engineering and CAD proficiency are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role across levels (0-3, 3+, 5+, 8+).
  • Passing the FE exam is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with CAD systems (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and familiarity with FEA/CFD tools.
  • Understanding of materials, thermodynamics, kinematics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible resident status is required.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD models, schematics, and drawings for mechanical components.
  • Build prototypes, conduct tests, and compile performance data.
  • Prepare technical reports, BOM updates, and document design changes.
  • Perform basic stress analyses and tolerance stack-up assessments.
